The “Initiative Stolpersteine Göppingen e.V.” is a group of people interested in local history who work on a voluntary basis.

We research the life stories of citizens in the district of Göppingen who were expelled or murdered by the Nazis. These are racially persecuted people, political opponents, social outlaws, “euthanasia” victims and men who were persecuted because of their sexual orientation.

Once the research has been completed, we will ask the Cologne artist Gunter Demnig to produce Stolpersteine and lay them at the former place of residence. For the laying ceremonies we are looking for contact with pupils. The initiative also takes care of the financing of the Stolpersteine and is happy about stone sponsorships. After the laying of a Stolperstein on public property, the stone becomes the property of the respective municipality.

We would like to thank all private individuals, local authorities and companies who have supported and continue to support the Stolpersteine project and our initiative, also by providing services free of charge or by means of donations. As a non-profit association, we can issue receipts for donations. Special thanks go to our contemporary witnesses with their memories and mementos.

Even though many fates have already been documented in the district of Göppingen, the task of the Stolpersteine Initiative is not yet complete. The biographical texts are constantly being supplemented and updated. Following the texts, you have the opportunity to send us additions or comments. We can also be reached by e-mail or telephone.
